Ashley Simmons, DPT

Ashley was born and raised in Ft. Washington, Maryland, and began dancing at the age of 3. She began competing at age of 8, and continued throughout high school winning numerous Regional and National awards and titles at competitions not limited to DMA, DEA, and Showbiz. Right after high school, Ashley began her 10 year performance and creative career with Kings Dominion in Richmond, VA, beginning as dance captain then moving up to choreographer for the audition tour to hire the entertainment department. During that time, she choreographed both summer and Halloween shows for Kings Dominion from 20072009.

Ashley graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a double major in Dance and Communications. Other performance credits include: West Side Story (Walnut Street Theater), in Philadelphia; Saturday Night Fever in Las Vegas; 2004 MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon in Los Angeles with the cast of Saturday Night Fever; commercial for the National Tour of Evita; and a featured dancer in the Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2003 in Philadelphia. She worked for Oasis Productions appearing in live Nickelodeon Game shows in many cities across the country. While completing her undergraduate degree in New York City, Ashley was the dance captain for Kinetic Dance Theater in the production of The Sleeping Giant and was a collaborator and dance captain for the production of The Cyclone. She has performed with numerous teachers and choreographers in and out of the New York City area. She has taught in many cities across the country, judged for multiple dance competitions around the country, and has been on faculty for local dance studios.

Ashley joined the CPAT team in 2006 as the Accounts Receivable/Billing Manager. She quickly became educated on the ins and outs of insurance, and developed a passion for taking care of the insurance issues for the patient, so they could focus on getting better. Ashley received her doctorate in physical therapy from University of Maryland at Baltimore, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences in 2012. She has a passion for Orthopedics, with a special interest in rehabilitation and injury prevention in the dance population, as well as other athletes. She visits local studios to educate the teachers and dancers on injury prevention and performs injury screenings on dancers of all ages and levels. Ashley is a certified Zumba instructor and incorporates yoga into her weekly exercise program. She is an active member of the APTA, Orthopedic section, and Performing Arts special interest group. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, practicing yoga, and spending time outside.
